Wonderful Staff and the maitradee lady allowed me to sit in the restaurant with my cocktail az I had bags of shopping ..big shout out to her and the bar lady on afternoon of 5th October 2023
Had the pleasure of enjoying a few nightcaps here while staying at the Voco Grand Central. Champagne Central is an elegant bar, built in the historic addition to the Grand Central hotel in the early 1900’s. Adorned with some beautiful decor from a stunning crystal chandelier, to the original marble floor (that was once covered by a carpet) to a series of windows that overlook the main train terminal. Great place to come to start the night with some bubbly, or to end it with some truly excellent drinks. Our host was Moriarty, bartender extraordinaire who makes one of the best Whiskey Sours I’ve ever had. The vibe is lively, but not overly energetic. There is a cute side room for more intimate gatherings as well. In a city full of bar options, this is one to put on your list to see.
Much less grand than it was. Everything was dirty. There were quite a few empty tables when we arrived on Saturday afternoon but every one was covered in dirty glasses and hadn't been wiped. There was also litter all over the place, used wrapping paper from earlier groups over the tables and floors that wasn't cleared the whole time we were there.
After we cleared our own table, we ordered drinks - one glass of Veuve Cliqout and one sparkling water and the total was £24. Only after we ordered did I look at the menu to discover the cost of a glass champagne has risen from £14 in December 2022 to £21 in January 2024 - a 50% increase in little over one year! I don't mind splurging on a glass of champagne but £21 for one glass feels like exploitation.
In Costco and on Amazon a bottle of this champagne will set you back about £42, but if you'd like to enjoy that bottle in Champagne Central on dirty tables, surrounded by litter, the experience will cost you £125. I appreciate businesses need to make a profit but this is greed, and if they're going to charge these prices the least customers can expect is a bit of luxury and perhaps table service. The toilets were also disgusting and badly needed some attention.
The bar was busy but there's really no excuse for how filthy everything was. Needless to say we left after the one extremely expensive drink.
Lived up to it's fine reputation. I had an amazing time here people watching from above the busy Central Station. Can't wait to visit again. Highly recommended.
Delicious afternoon tea, including gluten free options. Great flavours, especially the scones, and a nice glass of celebratory bubbly. The staff are also very friendly and kind. We had a wonderful experience 🥂!
Champagne Central has a great reputation for their drinks menu and afternoon tea, so we were excited to go. Overall it was good. The drinks were good, but the only small setback was slower than normal service. We had to catch the servers’ eyes every time and at no point did anyone come to check in if we were ok or if we needed anything.
I prefer attentive service, but if you’re more relaxed about it then it’s not a problem.
The champagne, cocktails and gin were all very good.
Early evening, after a very long train journey, I decided to chill with a Negroni and sit myself 🥰 I had 2 and felt extremely relaxed sitting watching everyone in the station . The girls behind the bar were lovely and there was a nice friendly vibe !
First time here and wasn’t impressed, was out with my sister for a day shopping we decided to go have a glass of champagne, we got Moët champagne and paid £36 for 2 glasses that were only half filled absolutely shocking, bar tender was so miserable he just stood staring at us when he knew we weren’t happy with the amount in the glass, certainly won’t be back for a glass of champagne here total rip off.
